Reality Check I.Academic: You will answer the following questions for each academic area: English, math, science, social studies, and electives. How many credits do you have in each area? What type of grades do you have? Have you taken any honors or AP classes? How would you rate your aptitude? (Are you good at that subject? For instance, you may be a good writer or enjoy reading, but you haven’t done well in English.) Is your academic record going to prevent you from the career that you have chosen?
In all my classes I have all credits needed not including next year. Most of my grades are “A”s maybe one “B” occasionally. I haven’t taken any AP or honor classes, no my academic record won’t prevent me from the career I chose if anything it will help me. II.Have you passed the FCAT? Have you taken the ACT or SAT? If you have not taken the ACT or SAT and plan to attend college, when do you plan to take it?
I passed the FCAT on my first try, I haven’t taken the ACT or SAT yet, but I’m planning on taking them. III.How much is your post-secondary education going to cost? Have you researched this at all? How are you going to pay for it? Are you on track to receive any scholarship or grant money? Almost everyone can receive financial help for post secondary training. You may qualify based upon financial need or grades; however, your parents must be willing to fill out the FAFSA (financial aid application based on tax returns), and they must be legal American citizens. Private scholarships are available that do not depend on citizenship. For instance, you can receive scholarships if you are the first in your family to attend
I have no idea, but I do know it will cost a lot and I haven’t done any research. Hopefully I will get a scholarship and it will pay for all of it. So far I’m on track to getting a scholarship.
Open up a Word document and answer the questions, Questions 1 and 2 should bewritten as a paragraph using SWE (standard written English). The questions below the numbered questions are ones that should be included in your paragraph. Please consider all the questions and write as a paragraph.
The other questions can be one or two sentences. Please write your answers in sentences that include the questions. For example: My academic goals for this year are...
1.Where do you want to be in five years? What type of education are you going to pursue after you get out of high school? Community college, four-year college, technical institute? Please be honest with yourself. If you have a 2.0 g.p.a. as a junior, you are not going to the University of Florida or Harvard. Are you going in the Armed Forces? If so, are you in JROTC? If not, why not? What branch of the Armed Forces and why that branch?
Well, in five years I see myself out of college hopefully working for a big corporation designing new technology. The type of education I’m pursuing is one of the highest like a Master’s Degree or even higher because in the field I’m going into I definitely need a higher education. Most likely I’m going to a four year school because a higher education is always better, plus a doubt you can get a Master’s Degree in two years. Right now I don’t know what college I’m going to, but it’s most likely not going to be Harvard.
2.Thinking ahead to the future, where do you want to be in 10 years with your career, family, etc. Have you researched this job or career? Shadowed anyone? Know anyone who is in this job or career? Why did you choose this particular job or career? What attributes do you have that would help you be a success in this area? Is there anything that might prevent you from accomplishing your goals? (money, grades, ability)—Please be honest with yourself. If you have trouble in math and science classes, you probably are not going to be a doctor. How much money do you think you can make at that job? How long do you think you will work before you can retire?
I want to be well financed and hopefully I’ll have a family, about two kids, but if another one comes I won’t complain. I’ve done some research on the career I choose, there’s no point choosing a job you don’t like. The career I choose interested me because I enjoy learning about new technologies. One attribute that I have is I enjoy math and engineer has a lot to do with math, so I see that as a advantage. The biggest problem will be money, but I’m not letting anything get in my way. In the career I choose most engineers make around a hundred thousand and I plan on retiring when I’m satisfied. 3.What are your educational goals:
To become successful and make enough money that I won’t have to worry about money? This academic year:
Keep my GPA above 3.5. Senior year:
Pass all my classes with a “A”. Post secondary: (This means after you graduate from high school)
If I have enough money go to college right after high school or work then go to college.
4.What have you done for your school or community? Have you volunteered, donated blood, etc.
I joined Seminole Pride, which does community service around the school. 5.Have you considered some type of volunteer program for the summer that will advance you toward your goal? Would you be interested? No I haven’t, but I’m thinking about doing community service in the summer.
Throughout history man has been obsessed with barbaric fights for entertainment. For example the Coliseum in Rome were men dueled to the death for glory and now with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), but just less barbaric. But even though viewer might think this sport is barbaric in many ways as the Coliseum once was it’s not. It’s an art, the art of fighting. MMA teaches me many different things because it consists of various sports like Karate, which teaches me self control on all levels. Another thing MMA teaches me is self defense when you need to use it and finally practicing the sport will definitely get me into shape, improving my health.
To begin with, Karate is one of the many MMA sports that teach a great understanding of one another. It purges oneself of selfish and evil thoughts; this is why I enjoy learning about MMA. To me learning about self control is a hobby. I’m an angry person at times and sometimes I lose control, but I hope by taking a MMA class and learning more about Karate it can teach me to control my anger. Self control is one thing I will master before the age of thirty no matter what. Hopefully by learning more about the sport I can learn the knowledge needed to help someone else.
Certainly, no matter how much self control you might have there will come a time when you will have to use self defense to protect yourself. MMA can teach me this, how to defend yourself against a robber or bully. If you’re a spectator watching the sport you would think it just two guys slugging it out, when really it takes science to know what you are doing. Science intrigues me and the science of fighting appeals to me greatly. The science behind the sport intrigues me more to pursue the sport so that I can properly defend myself. The art of fighting is something I could really see myself learning more about so that I can challenge myself. Learning all the different techniques a fighter has to learn. For example an arm bar is a lock you could use when your endanger, an arm bar is joint lock that hyperextends the elbow joint until it breaks or the person taps.
Furthermore, Mixed Marital Arts is a great activity that I could see myself learning more so that I can improve my health. For a couple for a couple of months I was a boxer both at PAL and La Fe boxing gym, boxing is a big part of MMA and my life. When I was a boxer I felt better than I ever felt and I’m planning to go back to challenge myself to get ready for a MMA fight. The greatest challenge a fighter faces is training because this is where you know if this is the sport for you. Sometimes I go on line to learn some MMA moves or a good workout routine. If someone wants a rock hard body this is the sport for you, now I’m not saying go into the cage and fight, but at least workout like one.
In conclusion, there are many things that I have a passion for, but none compare to the one I have for MMA. It’s a great sport that teaches, intrigues, pushes, and trains me to become a better person in many ways. It can push your mind, body and soul to the breaking point and still have a relaxing nature to it. One of the greatest things this sport can teach me is to have total self control over myself. But on the other hand the people that live in this world sometimes want to hurt me or you and when they do I’ll be ready to defend myself. One other great aseptic to me that the sport offers, is knowing that when I do it I’m health is improving.
